DOG BREED GUIDE Find Your Soul Mate Dog Dog training Puppy training Dog training for beginners Dog training book edition by Jack Shepherd Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews

  • I read already 2 of his books and they are all very interesting.
This one describes dogs of all sizes, shapes and personalities. The author wants every prospective owner to find the very best dog to fit his or her own personality and lifestyle. Each future dog owner should definitely read it )
  • I am always curious about these kinds of books, as the advice seems so generalized. I don't find this particular tome to be any different. For example, Golden Retrievers are suggested for families with children, and yet one of the most aggressive dogs I've met in the past 10 years was a Golden. No mention in the book of the pitbull, but I placed the most loving and gentle pit into a home with two young girls, and regularly see pics of them laying on him as though he were a pillow. And where are the Shiba Inus, American Eskimos, or Keeshonds?

Having said that, the premise of the book is right on. It is critical that you spend time learning about yourself and your lifestyle, and then narrow down to a breed or two that will compliment that lifestyle. What will that pup want at one year? Five? Ten? What health issues are common in the breed? How much will food and care cost? Are there breed restrictions (as much as I hate them, they exist) that you need to worry about?

If you can get past the generic breed recommendations, most of the rest of this book is pretty good.
  • Very informative book that contains all the information you will need for a Morkie. So glad to finally have a book available on this wonderful breed!
  • Hard to understand
