Beautiful Justice Reclaiming My Worth After Human Trafficking and Sexual Abuse edition by Brooke Axtell Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

  • I found this book so heartwarming and at the same time a very good “how to” book. Brooke has shown the way to so many victims of sexual trafficking as well as domestic violence. She has risen in her resolve to help not only herself, but show the world how powerful words and work can lead to finding your way to a peaceful and productive life.
  • Beautiful Justice is a beautifully written memoir by a powerful woman who is devoting her life to helping survivors or human trafficking and gender-based violence. Axtell's memoir is an invaluable resource for survivors, advocates, and anyone who wants to be an ally in the fight to end human trafficking.
  • Deeply moving and beautifully written, Brooke Axtell embraces those of us who have suffered abuse and offers herself as a loving and knowledgeable guide toward self-love.
  • Pre-ordered Beautiful Justice by Brooke Axtell because I've long been a fan of her poetry and her advocacy for survivors of trafficking. Received the book on its publication day and I'm more than halfway through reading it a day later. Brooke writes like the artist she is about her incredibly harrowing experiences, weaving in her poetry as well as occasional data on sexual and domestic violence. She writes with an earnestness I find really refreshing; she's clear that her story doesn't end in trauma, but that she can use her voice to amplify others' and to organize for healing, which is its own kind of justice. I'm deeply moved by her story, and I'm swept along by her writing. Recommend.
  • This book tells the story of Brooke Axtell's journey through human trafficking and sexual abuse starting at the tender age of 7.
She is now an advocate for women around the world who have gone thru this trauma.
She shares the poetry she writes in part of the book and she is also a very spiritual woman.
I was moved by her ability to prevail after all she's been through.
Whether you need particular help in this area you will be touched in many ways by her story.
    Recommended.
  • So many people have no idea how a child's world can change after being abused. There are different levels of abuse. Brooke pretty much had them all. A child is changed forever and as they grow up, they do not think they deserve anything but more abuse - either via drugs, alcohol, physical or sexual abuse. The initial abuse has forever changed the child. And the abuse is very prevalent. More prevalent that people would believe or even fathom. Brooke brings her story and for anyone who has been through abuse, this is a well written book that might help them
  • The author was "temporarily" sold into a sex traffic ring when she was seven years old by her nanny. However, there is nothing temporary about the lifelong pain that results of such a despicable situation.

In this book, I feel that she is working through the pain via artistic pursuits, spirituality, and her poetry peppered throughout the text. She had to go through bad relationships and learn to honor herself and understand that she is worthy to really heal. Honoring herself is a way to get justice for the perpetrators who will never serve a day in jail.

The author is obviously a talented poet and very spiritual but I had trouble relating to a story told in this manner. Part two is much better and is less poetic and part three provides questions the abused can use to heal. In the end this is both a very personal story and one offered up to help others similarly abused.
  • From the first page to the end (I read it in a day and 1/2!) I felt like an insider to the author’s life; as we were best friends and she was confiding in me in her deepest fears, feelings and strength. I’m walking away a better person for reading this work of art! As someone who suffered abuse on many levels, it helped to heal some of my old wounds. Thank you Brooke!
