"I used to love canning and preserving food when I was a new mother. Not sure why I stopped, but it’s been awhile and I saw this title and figured it might spark the interest again. It did FAR more than that and opened up more doors and things for me to try.
A good overview many ways to put food up, this book makes it simple and provides recipes as well. It’s not just jellies and pickles, this book covers Ricotta, fruit roll ups, jerky, kombucha, Apple cider vinegar, Irish cream, and more.
A solid book for the amateur as well and experienced cook. Looking forward to getting a hard copy and putting up some of this Summer’s bounty."

- Are you buying your kombucha or kefir at a store? How about bone broth? Apple Cider Vinegar? Think you can't make these, or have to make them by the boatload? Out of ideas for your garden excesses? Want to try drying yogurt for healthy snacks, or freezing eggs so you can buy more chickens? How do Cowboy's Whiskey Jerky, Herbed Tomatoes in Sea Salt or Cinnamon Apple Rings sound? Maple Bourbon Bacon Jam? Or Homemade Irish Cream Liquor? So many questions, and this book has the answers. Ann not only gives you recipes, she gives you skills...with tips, tricks and even common mistakes...learned from experience and shared in honest, up-to-date, easy-to-follow instructions. Canned, dried, cured, fermented or frozen...there is SO MUCH in this book. It's a true how-to guide, and fills in the gaps left by not having family members, neighbors or Home-Ec classes to teach us how to grow, know and make what we eat. From Joel Salatin's foreword through Ann's own journey to self-sustenance, you will love it. Ordering more for gifts...this is one you'll want to share.
